  • The way that alcohol leaves the body is through the pores on one's skin. In order to get it out, you have to sweat. http://www.intox.com/physiology.asp says: "The liver is responsible for the elimination - through metabolism - of 95% of ingested alcohol from the body. The remainder of the alcohol is eliminated through excretion of alcohol in breath, urine, sweat, feces, milk and saliva. The body uses several different metabolic pathways in its oxidation of alcohol to acetaldehyde to acetic acid to carbon dioxide and water."
  • I thought it was just me, that sweated after a hangover. I always believed it was due to the alchohol in your system, alchohol evaporates faster at a lower temp than water does, so you sweat easier. I am glad though, you can get up and go do something and sweat it out of your system... ie; saturday I was at my bosses wedding reception from 12 to 945 ate and DRANK all day, sunday I was outside cutting the lawn when It was almost 90', I sweated my hang over out and felt great ..
  • Not necessarily. When you drink alcohol you're putting a bunch of toxins into your body. When you have toxins like that in your body, your body's natural defense is to heat up, to "burn it off" (This is why one would get a fever when they have a cold or the flu). Your body heats itself up, and then to cool itself off it sweats. You should be drinking lots of water with a hangover- but also you never lose all of your body's water- so you can always cry, urinate and or sweat if/when necessary.
  • also, dehydration causes body temperature to rise which could lead to more-profuse-than-average sweating.
