Official Church doctrine does not specify what foods its members can or cannot eat. Individual members—by personal interpretation of scripture—have made individual decisions to what they should and should not eat. Some members feel the scriptures specify that a diet should consist of whole grains, while others do not see this same interpretation. Some members believe that the scriptures tell us to be vegetarians, while others believe they tell us to eat meat. The list goes on and on. [In response to Bob Blaylock] I never said the scriptures weren't clear. The question asked for Mormon beliefs, so I stated Mormon beliefs.

I would rather be vegan, then anything.

well, first and for most, the Church encourages the members to refrain from eating/drinking these things. but it is really up to the person to make that decision. As far as i know, from the Word of Wisdom (its basically a list of guidlines stating, that if we do not consume certain substances we will be healthier than if we had) - Try to Eat Meat sparingly (don't worry we DO have BBQ's! Lol. Just basically don't eat it 24/7) - Try to eat more fruits veggies and grains. - Stay away from Alcoholic substances - Caffeine is a no-no (though i have several mormon friends that drink Caffenated coffee/tea etc, and even i have the occasional pepsi) - No drugs for fun (healing yes, but not for fun lol) So yeah thats all i can really think of. The main reason why we follow these guidlines is because we believe that the Lord has told us these things, and given us the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives than if we DID use/eat/drink these things.
