Dear Answer Bag, During last night my domesticated Dutch Rabbit escaped from her hutch and I found her this morning badly scratched and a lot of her fur gone from the top of her back. Could a wild rabbit attack or try to mate with her, or

    Hope your bunny is ok sounds like a bigger animal got hold of her. I would check daily to make sure theres no sign of infection the fur will grow back over time though.

    It sounds like a dog attack to me. Like a dog grabbed hold of her neck and then she used her back legs to scratch and attack back. Rabbit can be a bit rough during mating but it's usually just a little tuft or two of fur, not enough to leave a bare patch. I sure hope she'll feel okay.

    You ran out of room. I wouldn't think she would be badly scratched from a wild rabbit attacking her for mating purposes.

    I would wonder if she scraped herself just by the act of escaping from the cage. Maybe wiggled out. Did you check the cage to see if there is fur somewhere she might have gotten out?
