Why is it ok for different ethnic groups to have their own groups, contests, clubs, whatever, but if something is caucasian only, it's considered racist? (exa: if we had a "white miss america" contest, it would be racist)

This is a prime example of what is called "positive discrimination" it is used to try and give those "normally" discriminated against a way to get involved in the things that they are discriminated against.
I personaly hate the idea!

- I thought of this question because there is another website that allows the members to make discussion groups. They have an entire section of ethnic groups, but when someone made one that had "caucasian" in the title, the group was removed and the member had her membership terminated because they said she was being racist and only made the group to cause controversy. This was a woman who had bi-racial children. I thought that was a very narrow minded view. Thanks for your comment!

- It was just a website....not really a big deal to get booted off. I posted in the general area about them booting her off and I got removed also for speaking out about it. I wouldn't want to be a part of the website for these reasons anyway!

- I have heard of "reverse discrimination"... this being when Whites are targeted. Somehow this is supposed to not be as bad as "discrimination". Is this the same thing as "positive discrimination"?

- Reverse discrimination and positive discrimination are diffrent things, this example would be a case of REVERSE discrimination (not positive as I said).
  Positive discrimination is discriminating against a race/sex ect to try and even things out. For example, if a company has 100 people employed, 99 are white and 1 is black. The black person leaves (fior whatever reason), two new aplicants of equal abilities and experience apply for the job, one white and one black. The company would then (probably) use positive discrimination to select the black person over the white person.

I don't get it either. Especially since those groups say they do it to discuss things like hair cafe, skin care, and how they raise their children. So I guess if you are Caucasian American you just have to hop between several different boards to discuss all that because you are racist if you make a Caucasian American group, I even tried to work with cafemom to make a Caucasian American group once they came out saying that a Caucasian mom's group wasn't allowed because it's to universal. I just think it's as wrong to punish a group for being the majority as it is to punish a group for being the minority.

- LOL! I asked this question because of a Caucasian group on cafemom that got taken off, then the user got booted for complaining or something. Then I got booted off (along with a few other people) because of saying something about it on the main page instead of on the "questions for cafemom" group or whatever it was. I kept posting and they kept deleting, then they finally just booted me off! This was several months ago (maybe a month after they started having groups). I haven't been back on their since because I thought it was a bunch of bullshit.

I think all the other ethnic groups believe they need to band together to stand up to us. Just my thought.

As Rodney King one said, "Can't we all just get along?" (I think I got that right)

- Why do we have to be seperated into ethnic groups anyway? I understand everyone has their own customs and traditions, but otherwise people are people...we should just leave it at that. This isn't the 1950's anymore (or the 1850's for that matter!).
