  • ive had a few peircings and id say if toungue was a 4 then tragus would be a 7. depends how slow they go, with mine they put the needle through real slow, but afterwards it hurts the least out of any of them.heals easily.
  • haha really? mine didnt really hurt i think it would have been like a 4 about mid way.... I think it was just the shock of it being done and the sound that it made when the needle went through which made me cringe. Mine still hurts a bit if i sleep on it wrong or too much but its pretty much healing up nicely! (I got mine done a week ago)
  • i'd have to agree with melly moo. it was about 4 for me. and i have very little pain tolerance. what really hurt for me was that the guy messed up putting the earring in and had to take it out and redo it. so getting the earring put in actually hurt more than the piercing for me. some people say it feels like a punch in the side of the head. trust me i've been hit in the side of my head it doesn't feel nearly as bad as that.
  • I would think you would see the answer to this question by reading through the other questions and answers in the "Tragus Piercings" section. When I got my ears pierced, it didn't hurt at all. There are topical creams and lotions that can be used to deaden the pain. Most of the hurting comes from not caring for it properly afterward. If you feel pain when you pinch yourself, then maybe you shouldn't have the piercing.
  • It could not hurt very much, but it could also hurt a lot. Here some examples from people who found it painful. Maybe it was hard luck: 1) "So, now things start to get interesting, as Rebecca attempts to get my jewellery in. It honestly was NOT going through. SO after over 30mins of ramming and digging with the bar, and Rebecca nearly on top of me (and SUPER frustrated), my ear was VERY VERY VERY bloody and VERY VERY VERY much swollen. The whole task is suppose to take 5mins. I have now been in the chair for 45 minutes. INSANE. Eventually, after a break, and a glass of water, the decision is made to re-pierce the hole from the bottom up. Now, the initial piercing was painful enough, but having a needle dug through my extremely swollen and angry tragus is the most painful thing I've EVER experienced. This caused jolts of pain through my entire body. oh the horror. Haha. " " I get comments about it all the time. Totally worth the time and pain!" Source: http://www.piercedpleasures.net/experiences/tragus16.html "Jenni told me not to watch and I shut my eyes and OUCH! I had been told that the tragus doesn't hurt to much but my god that was the post painful piercing i ever had." "It was my favourite piercing and I had it done for almost a year but unfortunately I had to take it out cause it was just getting infected all the time and causing too much pain cause it was always accidentally getting hit. But I would not let my experience deter you from getting a tragus piercing." You can read about some other experiences (also good ones) on this site: http://www.piercedpleasures.net/main.html 2) "The pain caused by the piercing and the application of its jewelry varies widely from person to person. • I'd say mine was about 2. I was expecting it to be /much/ more painful. I was pleasantly surprised. ^^
  • id say about a 4/5 i just took my mobile in with me and went thru the pics to distract myself. im 14 with very low pain tolerance btw
  • well i'd say 6 out of 10 since your piercing ur cartilage, but i can take pain so its ok ..
  • i'd say 1 didnt even feel it
  • Def a 1! I didnt feel a thing, Im amazed. I asked her if she were going to use to a needle or gun to which she replied "I used a needle" i thought she was joking, but nope shed done it and i hadnt noticed! Had it done about 4 hours ago, still no pain. :)
  • I would say about a 6, its not to bad....
  • Its not that bad! i recently got mine pierced and i went in thinkin it wasnt going to be painful coz it was a last minute decision.. you only feel slight pressure an a quick sting. so i really didnt think it hurt at all.. it just depends on your pain tolerance.
  • Wow, I feel like a pussy reading these comments. lol I would say it was a 7 pain level. Perhaps that's because I have a really thick tragus but it hurt like a bitch. And there was an awful crunch sound (instead of a "pop" sound, which I hear about). But letting pain get in the way of a piercing you want is a dumb excuse if you ask me. If you want a tragus piercing, go get it. I would personally get two (tragui) because getting one to me seems like only getting one lobe piercing, it would look better as a matching pair.
  • Some people say that. I wouldn't haha. I thought it hurt pretty bad. But really, it was only for about two seconds on each side, not even. It went really quick and once the needle is done pushing through, the hard part is over. The comment above sounds like a horror story instead of your typical case lol. If you really want one (or two, Tragui, then it looks super cute), go get it. Don't let a few seconds of pain get in your way of something you can have for the rest of your life.
  • The piercing itself did not hurt me hardly at all. The strangest thing was the "crunch" I heard because it goes through cartilage. The big thing is to have it done by a top notch piercer. The pain comes in afterwards... the healing time. If you sleep on your side you are going to need to roll up a towel into a donut shape so you do not put any pressure on the piercing. I would suggest you get a CBR rather than a barbell. They are easier to clean and heal better. Also, I advise not going smaller than 16 gauge. Again, healing is better for larger gauge. I had to take my tragus piercings out in 2005 because I needed an MRI of my head. I had had them for 5 years with minimal problems and they were my second favorite piercings (I had both traguses done). I am going to have them redone.
  • I THINK IF YOU EXPECT TO BE THE WORSE PAIN IN THE WORLD, LIKE I'M GOING TO DO, THEN IT WON'T BE AS PAINFUL. IT'S LIKE EXPECTING SOMETHING TO BE REAL GOOD AND IT TURNS OUT MEDIOCRE.
  • i've had a few piercings. i've had my belly button my ears and cartilage and also have had a tattoo. its honestly not that bad. i HATE pain (even shots!) so on a scale of 1-10 i'd say it was about 2-3
  • Doesn't hurt at all, although the healing process sucks . Tends to get a bit itchy, lawlz(:
  • ermm i'd say about 2 the place i got it dont didnt even numb it wich was a bit weird but it didnt hurt me at all it was over in a flash xD
  • with the trag it hurts about the same as your cartilage. some people say its the crunch or the pressure. i found that freaked me out the most was the slight pop of it going through and the slight amount of blood dripping down into my ear. there is the freaky feeling of moving the ring in the trag for the 1st month. i found that i for got about the piercing a lot of the time and bumped it with the phone, headsets or even when i was sleeping.
