My home . The place I was born and raised( Third Generation), and have lived in all my life. While not perfect, it's home & I love it. Some of the misconceptions and wild ideas about Texas and Texans surprise me, amuse me, and sometimes anger me. As a guest in my home, you would be treated with the utmost of kindness and respect as would be the case with anyone else who treated me the same in return.

Oil being sprayed on side of highways to keep dust down but they spray past the fences and into the cattle pastures too. No portable toilets at any of the hundreds of roadside picnic and rest areas. How can anyone picnic or rest without using the john??? ANd doesn't that just make people pee on the bushes or rocks or wherever? And finally state police or rangers that never stop to help people stopped on the highway. They are out there only to arrest or cite people.

How long it takes to drive across it!! And the black trooper from upstate New York (transplanted to Texas) who pulled me over for speeding and asked why didn't I have a Texas inspection sticker (because I'm from South Carolina!) He said we (my two sisters and I) SOUNDED like we were from Texas, but he then admitted our license plate looked a little different than Texas'. All the people I encountered in Texas were HUGELY friendly and accommodating!
