  • This gets good reviews: http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-sdr-h18/4505-6500_7-32343416.html?tag=txt (Panasonic SDR-H18)
  • It depends on what you mean by intermediately priced. Assuming you are able to spend 100 pound or so I would try and go for one with at least 6 mega pixels (the more the better) and 3 times OPTICAL zoom (make sure it is optical and not digital).
  • I am a miser. I look at price vs pixels. Normally end up buying something cheap, as it will either be lost or stolen before too long. I paid $79.00 for my last one, mind you it only lasted a few months, but in a severely dusty environment. I would buy another one.
  • I am partial to Canon EOS 40 D, for its easy compatibility with all PC's, TV, and Canon printers. But, they are all good. You can't really go wrong.
  • My best experience with digital cameras are with HP. You can see a variety at the HP Home and Office web page.
  • you need to consider price and size - are you going for a fantastic full spec thing? or a mid range? or a compact thing that you can carry everywhere? or a low price cheap and cheerful? Do you want pixels? Do you want zoom? - compare optical/digital zoom? What about battery consumption? ( I prefer the ones with a built in battery - the longer the battery life the better!) Have you owned a digital camera before? if you have, you might need to consider going for one with the same kind of memory cards as you had before. The memory card itself can influence your decision - my entire family have Sd cards on their cameras, but mine is xD - so they have compatability and can swap cards around, but I can't. The other thing I wanted was a viewfinder - in my old digital camera, I had a viewfinder - so rather than always having to look at the screen at the back to frame a shot, I was able to look through the little viewfinder - this was useful on sunny days, when the screen was unclear. However, I was not able to find this feature on mid range cameras. Anyway - these are all the factors I considered when I looked for a new camera. Then I spent some time on review websites - there are some really good sites out there, showing different kinds of pictures taken with different cameras. Then I narrowed my choice down to two or three cameras, and then looked for the right price. In the end I bought an Olympus Mju 1060. It has 10 megapixies, 7x optical zoom, which is longer than most, has a built in battery which lasts for ever, and is smaller than a cigarette packet, yet has a 3cm screen! It also has some pretty nifty on screen guidance for setting up shots - esp where it comes to dealing with certain types of flash etc. I am very happy with my camera, and would recomend it to anyone
  • I've traveled the world with my Cannon G3 - taken shots of everything from beaches to close-ups of insects and I LOVE that darn camera : )

  • Hey Rollerz!! I found one on craigslist not too long ago, it might be a couple of years old, but it takes wonderful pictures
