At the pistol range what do you think the best yardage target distance should be placed at for self defence practice shooting?

Realistically no more than 10 yards. Pistol combat is usually eyeball-to-eyeball and out only a rather short distance. After that you'd just be spraying & praying to hit something unless you have many hours and even years of expert pistol training.

The farther away the better. You get them before they get close enough to get you.
