Re-send the invoice as you would with any other clients. The invoice should include a reminder of interest if not paid at the end of 90 days. After a full 90 days make a phone call and tell your friend that you are attempting as always to keep your bookkeeping records in order. Also let them know your accountant/bookkeeper is asking about the payment outstanding.

Your friend needs to be reminded of the time that you spent doing the work and possibly money on materials, which came out of your own pocket. In future it's always best to ask for partial payment up front so at least the materials are covered. Friends need to know that you expect payment for work done and that your time is valuable.

Find something, in your home, that needs replacing. or, maybe you need a new automobile. the point being.....you can use this excuse to approach your friend, that you need the above and a little low on cash. maybe he will get the hint. sometimes, going around the world, to drive home a point, will work. hope it works.
