What are the differences between the Anglican and Christian Reformed denominations?

    This answer could be a book, but I'll try to be concise.

    Historically, the Christian Reformed denomination comes from the Calvinist branch of the Protestant Reformation and their roots are in the Dutch Reformed denomination. Anglican Churchs came about when the Pope would not give King Henry VIII the annulment that he wanted from one of his wives, so he split away from the Catholic church to start the Church of England.

    Theologically, the Anglican Churches are very similar to the Roman Catholic Church with the notable exceptions that priests are allowed to marry and that there is no "Anglican Pope". Salvation in the Anglican churches would depend primarily on being a "good Anglican" and following the rules. The Christian Reformed Church, as a Calvinist denomination, would believe that God is all knowing and all powerful, and as a result he has pre-destined those that will have eternal life and that once you are saved you cannot become "un-saved". Salvation in the Christian Reformed view would depend on a solid faith in the death and resurection of Christ, and an active, everyday belief in Christ as our King and Saviour.

    Socially, the Christian Reformed Church is much more conservative than the Anglican Churches. A few examples: the CRC would not condone practicing homosexuals, the CRC does not allow women as preachers, and the CRC takes a traditional creation view. The typical CRC would also have higher expectations of it's members, that they live a clearly Christian life as a witness to others, and that they attend church regularly or face lapsing or excommunication.
