I find that using a mildly abrasive wash/scrub works for me. The acne scars cause enlarged pores which fill up and become blackheads. A mildly abrasive cleanser will keep the enlarged pores cleaner, and look better. I think it makes the scaring less noticeable.
A friend of mine has a lot of scars and she uses rosehip oil. It's meant to tighten and heal the affected skin and lessen the appearence of scars and I think it worked pretty well for her.
I had never previously heard of this, but my wife uses dabs of toothpaste on the kids zits and it actually works really well in clearing up the bumps. Don't ask me why though, but it is a cheaper remedy than buying expensive stuff on tv.
Exfoliating will help with this over time. Exfoliate 2-3x per week and you should see the redness from the old pimples completely fade in about 4-6 weeks. Preferably find an exfoliator with salicylic acid. If your face doesn't produce excess oil by exfoliating 2-3x week, you may be able to increase it to 3-4x a week.
yes dear asker,
here are some really effective home remedies for acne that will help you to get a clear and glowing skin forever. Here they are :

I have acne scaring and i use bio oil its a specialist skin oil for streach marks scars, uneaven skin tone ageing skin and dehydrated skin over a long period of time it works wonders but you have to remember that only time heals all scars you may have to wait a while but it is worth the wait.
I use Pure Vitamin E Oil and put it on as frequently as possible, expecially overnight. Scar tissue begins to develop immediately after injury, The cells are simply working overtime to heal the injured tissue and even forms a natural bandaid over the wound by producing new, thicker skin to protect the area from secondary infection or re-injury. As it develops over the wound area, especially on acne scars, it will feel like it's tightening and the new skin or scar tissue feels thicker. So, I wouldn't use even a mild abrasive if it were me because it seems that would cause the area to continue to produce even more scar tissue.
You want it to heal, but you don't want it to tighten, because when it soes it causes the skin to distort in that area, causing pits or indentations in the skin. Most Doctors will tell you that only time will make a scar become less noticable once they're already there. I have just found that by putting Vit E Oil immediately on the area, frequently and consistently as soon as it begins to heal, that my scars don't become so noticable in the first place.
I have heard Vitamin E works, break open a capsule and apply to the scar
Use NO MARKS cream after cleansing and toning twice daily.i have been using it 15 days ago and its effects are great it has reduced my months old scars and made my skin clear.
its not a home remedy but bio oil is meant to be really good on all sorts of scars including acne scars.
i have pits on the face caused by acne n open pores . do i have any remedy?
mix strawberries and bananas together in a mushy form. apply on face like a mask with gause resting underneath to help from sliding and let sit for about 5 minutes.
why don`t u try mixin turmeric with lemon juice & leave it on overnight.. it shug give u some results.
Here's what I did and it worked amazingly. I am close to done with my regimen and I have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the appearance of my acne scars and red areas. I think perhaps one more month or now with Spring coming, a little sun will finish up and do the trick to completely dissolve my acne scars.
You will need three things only.
Tea tree oil & Vitamin E gel capsules. And scissors...
All I did was used the tea tree oil by placing some on my finger and rubbing/dabbing into the acne scars and red areas I did not want to be on my skin. Tea tree oil will lightly burn your skin and your skin may feel itchy and even a little bit on fire. I just endured it because tea tree oil is the most amazing natural oil I have ever used. My father brings bottles of it from Australia so if you can find a tea tree oil made from Australia that will be even better.
After you place the tea tree oil and endure the interesting sensations and red skin, wait perhaps an hour or two or even longer if you wish (sometimes I left the tea tree oil on for hours because I forgot after doing chores around the house) and then take the Vitamin E gel capsules and open up 2 of them by cutting off the edge with scissors. The gel will begin leaking out so place it on your CLEAN and WASHED fingers and begin rubbing the gel on the areas of your face that have scarring. I wasn't liberal with my amounts. I usually used 2-3 gel capsules and really massaged and rubbed it into the areas where I had applied tea tree oil. Then after that, if you wish to, place an extra coat on top of the gel you have rubbed in. So basically, no gel should disappear from your skin, you should leave on a layer of the gel. You will look funny and greasy on your face but hey, this works! Now leave the gel on for a couple hours. You can do the gel perhaps before bed if you're a busy person and do the tea tree oil around dinner time. Just make sure you let the gel sit for an hour or two before you actually get into bed and risk the chance of rubbing it all off on your pillow.
So, I did this regimen every single day almost obsessively since I had many days I was able to stay home in the last month due to an ankle injury. I applied the tea tree oil 4-5 times a day. If you want to, you CAN also just place the vitamin E gel a few minutes after the tea tree oil. I just noticed it works a little less effectively than spacing their use out.
I believe the reason the tea tree oil works is because it is burning and attacking the area of the skin you placed it on and it is opening up the acne scar and I have noticed that somehow its ability to dry the skin is amazing because it dries the skin and then exfoliates it perhaps taking away a bit of the acne scar with it and tea tree oil also regenerates and helps skin cells grow. Then the vitamin E nourishes the skin and is known to be amazing for scars and reducing their appearance because it is helping the skin to heal better.
Now, here's the thing about this, regimen. It's a bit tough to do if you have to carry on going to school or work everyday because the tea tree oil will dry out your skin and make it appear pink/red for many hours after you apply it to the skin. Using make-up is not a problem though as long as you have waited two hours before applying make up after tea tree oil use. Since tea tree oil will dry out your skin big time, apply vitamin E gel also for a half or so before applying make-up to hopefully make the skin appear less flaky and dry. Otherwise, there really isn't much you can do about the dryness and don't mix and using any lotions or creams for it. You will definitely need the make up (concealer or foundation) and a light dab of powder to set it to cover up the red irritated skin for a while. I endured the dry skin for a little while and am glad I did now because my acne scars have faded so much I can hardly see them! I performed this regimen for a whole month only.
Also, be CAREFUL not to put the tea tree oil too close to your eyes and DO NOT EAT OR LICK the tea tree oil. Vitamin E is fine to eat...
Also, start drinking lots of milk, taking vitamin D and B, and eating veggies particularly salads. Eat healthily now for a while in order for your skin to heal even better and reduce the scarring. The milk will do wonders. It's the most amazing thing I have ever used to make my skin less pimply and more healthy and clear.
Glad to share my secret with others. Hope you like this and it works for you if you decide to try it!
