  • It would raise the question about how much creation is God responsible for. IF God created the HEAVENS and the earth, then those heavens include every star and planet we are aware of. Untold numbers. It would make God responsible for creating the 'aliens'. So that raises the question. Why are we, being so insignificant, including our planet earth, so important to God, that He would sacrifice his only son, Jesus, to rescue us from our own mistakes. The mind boggles. Have the ';aliens' been "saved", previously? Are they "next" to be saved?, Considering our bad track record, why would God bother? Why not just wipe us off and start again? Its all a matter of" SOVEREIGNTY" .a TRUE SOVEREIGN is is power because the people WANT him there, NOT because of power or force. So God wants US to WANT him and he wants his other creation, the angels, to see this too. God is sorting us out and getting us to look after THIS world, and maybe in the future, will let us explore the stars. THAT implies that there is no one out there.....YET. IF there were aliens, not under God's control, it would make a lie out of Genesis 1; 1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  • For most religions there are no significant implications. Some religions do not believe in God. Others may believe gods are limited in space and time. If some religion or sect has as a basic belief that life only exists on Earth they would have a serious problem. If some prophet has claimed a message from God that this hypothetical revelation contradicts it would indicate the prophet or his "god" is false. "No knowledge of God" does not imply limitation on God: many on Earth claim no knowledge of God. If God exists, these creatures are in denial or have no soul or have no revelation of God or... (etc.) There is not a single correct answer for this general question.
  • Since they would be visiting us may imply they are smarter then us and may laugh at us for believing in such ridicules notions. Especially when the got wind that most of our wars were because of religions. They may die from laughing to hard, or they may take off to look for another planet with creatures with larger brains
  • There are no implications at all. The religions of the world will spin whatever yarns are necessary in order to remain in place. The faithful will defend their beliefs in the face of absolutely anything. Short of God Himself publicly announcing otherwise, the religious will stick to the story they've been telling. It's what they do.
  • If an alien did land on earth.I am sure the religious big shots will come up with many answers that will appease their flocks, then fight like hell to prove theres the right answer. Like they came up with the answer for AIDs,war, floods.starvation, ,tourture, searl killers to name a few. Let us pray, God gave me a cynical brain i can not help myself
  • We can hypothesize about questions like this all day, the question is, "does such hypothesizing serve any meaningful purpose and is there a reason to suspect such hypothesizing might be true?" This question seems to be a backwards route at asking "What would religious people do if there was actually some solid proof for disbelieving in God?" They might just pass the aliens off as fakes or even demons, spiritual enemies of God lying through their teeth. Some might reject their religion (in which case, it would be a false religion to my mind anyway), and some, as IntellectualCritic excellently pointed out, would be unaffected since their religious beliefs are such that there is no God(s) or else such god(s) are limited in the extent of their powers.
  • I do not think it would have any implication for religion if we met aliens from another planet who had no knowledge of God. I do believe that aliens or other life forms have already visited us. I do not think it would effect my belief at all. We were all given a life force, energy, spirit from God the creater whether we realize it or not. Whether we are aware of it or not.
  • Potentially it would have massive implications. If an ET landed on Earth and proclaimed "I am your God. Bow down before me!" then religious leaders would wet their pants. They have tried to make us believe in God for so long, that such an action would be catastrophic for religion. It relies on faith, and not proof. Alternatively if the alien stated it had proof that htere was no God then that would also cause turmoil. Other than that, the other answers are not bad - if we are dumb enough to believe in religion then we will believe anything our leaders tell us to make our lives simple again.
  • Contact with other intelligent life will have huge implications for religion. It is when humanity learns that it is not the center of the universe or the center of Creation. There is a website that might be of interest to you which deals with the intersection of spirituality, religion and intelligent life in the universe. www.newmessage.org.
  • Nobody on this planet has any knowledge of god. It is all speculation and wishful thinking.
  • It would be like if we had a time machine and went to a time where people thought that the world was flat. They would probably think of us as ridiculous but developing and we would resist as much as possible.
