Who has the world's largest collection of any type of one item?

    It depends on the type of collection. Malcom Forbes had one of the largest collections of toy soldiers in the world. He bought a museum in Morocco to display his collection. After he died, he ordered that his collection be broken up (except for the portion that the Forbes family/foundation wanted to keep). The auction was handled by Christie's auction houses in both London and New York over a number of auction days. Bids could be submitted in person or via telephone or sealed bids through the mail. The proceeds were then donated to charity.

    The British Toy Soldier Society (and I apologize to the British Society if I got the name wrong) has a very significant display of toy soldiers at Blenheim Palace in England. Winston Churchill was born at Blenhiem Palace and his personal collection of more than 9500 toy soldiers is on display inside the Palace.

    Some friends of my brother may have had the largest collection of empty beer bottles at their dormitory back in college, but I don't think that counts for much. They probably had a lot of competition from other schools.

    Coca-Cola has a huge collection of almost any thing you can imagine, I have so much Coca- Cola thing's and that's just a drop in the bucket.
