You're reading Do Mormons believe Mary was a virgin when she gave birth?
Comments
Hey thanks. Checked the link myself and it gives good quotes.

Simply false. Twists words into meanings far removed from what their authors actually said.

A problem with lies is you forget what you said, and exposed when stories change. Getting mad at the exposer is not a defense

Even if it is not official doctrine, obviously some Mormons believe this; so, this is a useful answer.

Mormons do not believe this, and never have.
by Jabba The Hutt on March 11th, 2006
Not one of the sources cited has ever been considered an authoritative source of doctrine for the Church. Critics have to portray apocryphal sources and personal opinion as Church doctrine.

No, Grandma Roses, this is not an honest or accurate account of what *ANY* Mormons believe.

1. As has been stated MANY, MANY times as people like you and Alatea keep ignoring, the Journal of Discourse is NOT considered an authoritative source of Church Doctrine. 2. As has been stated MANY times, Gospel Doctrine is NOT and authoritative source of doctrine. 3. As far as I know, McConkie's Messiah series was also never accepted as an official source of doctrine. 4. Quotes, such as these, can easily be taken out of context so as to make them appear to be saying something that they are not. However, note that not one of these quotes actually says that the Father has sex with Mary nor do any of them specifically say that she was not a virgin. Taken out of the context of the entire discourse as they are, they can be interpreted to say that, but nothing in them rules out the possibility of the person referring to a miraculous means of Mary becoming pregnant with a child that, in the physical sense, is the literal Son of God. So, no they don't prove that we believe Mary was...

Ah, Lola, it does no good to address any comments to my brother. He has withdrawn from AB. That is why his entries are now listed as anonymous.

None of the books cited are canon. Be especially wary of the book _Mormon Doctrine_ by Bruce R. McConkie.

If God could command things into being during the Creation, why could he just command an embryo to come into being in Mary's womb?
