Do Mormons abstain from computer games and the Internet, which can be highly addictive and lead to an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle?

    There are many Mormons who participate here on answerbag; obviously, we are not abstaining from the Internet, or we wouldn't be here. If we did abstain from the Internet, then you'd never get a useful answer to this question, as none of us would be here to give you the answer.

    There are many, many things in life which are useful, valuable, and perhaps even necessary in modern life, of which it could also be said that they have the potential to “be highly addictive and lead to an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle”. The church doesn't tell us to avoid any of these things. Obviously, there's some issue of comon sense involved; if you find that a particular activity is consuming an excessive amount of your time and energy, to the detriment of more important responsibilities, then perhaps you should consider cutting back on that activity.

    Consider the advice found in Matthew 7:3-5. http://scriptures.lds.org/matt/7/3-5

    To much of anything will harm you.

    Common Sense / Avoid things that may lead to an unhealthy lifestyle.
