  • Joseph Smith never claimed to be the saviour, no follower of Joseph Smith ever felt he was the saviour. He always at all times testified of Jesus Christ as the Saviour. If you are confused about the role of Joseph Smith and his relation to Jesus Christ I recommend this talk by Elder Niel A. Maxwell. (the pictures in these videos don't seem to match up with the words in any significant way, I think they just tossed in every picture from the church library)

  • From what I read about Joseph Smith, at least in the first several years, he did not think of himself as a prophet. He received revelations and tried hard to do what he was commanded. I think that he sometimes tried to lean on counsel from others. On occasion. the Lord repremanded him for having "gone on in the persuasions of men". Some of the revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants seems to be aimed at placing Joseph as the earthly leader of the church and getting others to accept that.
  • Of course not, but we do believe he was instrumental in restoring the true plan of Salvation, for which all who are saved in the Kingdom of God must comply. Joseph Smith was simply a mortal man, whom God called to be His Prophet. A calling he did quite well, until lawless men murdered him and his brother. I doubt he thought of himself as a Savior...Later
