  • Well since 'largest' can have two connatations I've listed both the tallest individual and heaviest. The Gentle Giant: The tallest indivual in height was Robert Pershing Wadlow who set the world historic record at 8 ft 11.1 inches tall. He lived from 1918 - 1940 and died from a fatal infection, at the time of his death he weight 490 which is fairly proportional for his height. His enormouse stature is due to an overactive pituary gland. As for the heaviest in weight there is a bit of a debate: The heaviest confirmed indivual was Jon Brower Minnoch who weight a whopping 1400 lbs. Born 1941, Jon suffered obesity as a child, even weighting 292 at age eleven. He eventually died on September 10,1983 from an underlying class of Edema, a swelling of the organs. The heaviest unconfirmed indiviual was Carol Yager who was estimated to weight 1600 lbs. but due to the fact that few to no scales could hold her weight, this estimate was never substantiated. Carol died from kidney failure with obesity and multiple organ failure listed as underlying causes. Hope this helps...
