Let's see: You signed a lease. You moved into the apartment. Then you discovered that someone else's name is on the lease and not yours? This sounds highly irregular (and illegal). The person who's name is on the lease is responsible for paying the rent and is entitled to the benefits and amenities of the property. For example, if you rent an apartment with your name on the lease only, and then rent a spare bedroom out to, say, a college student, you, alone are responsible for the full rent to the landlord. And if that college student should, for example, lock himself out of the apartment while you're not home, the landlord MAY NOT unlock the the apartment for him and let him in. The landlord may do that ONLY for someone who's name is on the lease. Perhaps the agent in the rental office made a mistake, as can easily happen in a large complex with multiple leases being processed each month. Go and ask. If there's more to this than your question explains, then this is something you need to speak to an attorney about ASAP, rather than posting a Q on Answerbag...
