It was a choice by default, that was the only only car made in Iran, Later it was made into a few models like Paykan Javanan (Buick electra, le sabre etc). Another car appeared in Iran (manufactured there) was based on the french low end cituoron. It was made in Iran as a two cylinder aircooled front wheel drive with a canvas roof. Again making Paykan the default winner. Some other cars were nice but they were jointly made with Germany, so they were out to. It was the only national car in Iran.
