  • My dogs. But you can't have either of them. I can't make a comparison to a Dalmation though, never met one.
  • Before choosing a dog, it's a good idea to make sure you have the right environment to take care of the type that you want. If you are looking for a big dog, then you should have a yard or somewhere close that they can run around in. If you don't have a yard, then a smaller, lap dog would be better. The type can only be choosen by you. My picks would be Small: Shetland Sheepdog; Medium: Border Collie; Large: Lab or Rott.; EX Large: Great Dane
  • It REALLY depends on what you are looking for. Athletic dog, lap dog, good around kids, good with other pets. You really need to give more information.
  • 2 golden retrievers, they are loyal and love their family.
  • We have seven dogs (http://www.ParvoBuster.com/cast-of-characters.php): 1 Chihuahua 2 American Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier (mother and daughter, although the daughter has a bit of Golden Retriever in her) 1 Labrador Retriever 1 Bloodhound 1 Catahoula Leopard Dog 1 Australian Shepherd (we think). They're good guard dogs, mainly - they bark if anybody even comes remotely close to our house. They're great company. And they make sure no food goes to waste.
  • this totally doesn't count, but im putting it anyway. I dont have a dog. I have a bird. its a parakeet. Its quiet, friendly, cost-efficient, and interesting to me! Also very small and portable ;) Sorry for the off topic lol
  • chihuahua. He's loving and compassionate and my very best friend and he's small enough that I can hug him like a teddy bear, he doesn't eat a lot and still alerts me to trouble
  • we should not OWN animals or anything else for that matter Animals are born free and should so remain
  • There's a little questionare on this website to help you decide what kind of dog would be right for you. www.dogbreedinfo.com .
  • If you are looking for certain breeds of dog it is a good idea to do some research. Loads of stuff on the internet. It all depends on your life style, where you live, apartment or acreage etc. Some dogs such as border collies require a lot of activity and room to run. Others like little Maltipoos can actually get enough excersize playing in the house. http://www.canadasguidetodogs.com/dalmatian.htm
  • You have to find a dog that is a good temperament match to yourself and your family. You may love border collies but unless it has a job or work to do, it will be a nuisance, dangerous and bored. Or if you get a bulldog but you are a high energy person, that won't work as well. Study the breeds and what they are like, what they were bred for, not just what they look like. And if you have children or are around them a lot, I would not recommend dalmations. They are a fine dog, but often have a short fuse with kids and sometimes get a bit nippy with them. They take so much and then they've had it. Yes, there are some great ones that are sweet with kids but in general they are not even-tempered forever. They are short on patience.
  • If you don't have a lot of time to spend with a dalmation, and the dog is left alone, it will get depressed. Good around children, but not tots. They are more prone to deafness than other breeds. Should research before you jump into buying one. You would be better off going to the local shelter and saving a mutt, they make great pets and will be forever grateful.
