Or borrow a friends PC, because A PC just works.
Free? Sorry, haven’t found any. There’s plenty of shareware options here, though:

You're reading I need a free .ASF to 'any video file that will work on a mac' converter, for my Mac. Any suggestions?

The link you provided is for “Windows XP: Home Page.” While you can certainly install Windows XP on a Mac (and thereby run it faster than on most computers designed for it, including “a friends PC”), this question is in the Mac OS category. There are probably programs for AmigaOS that will do this, too, but that’s not what the OP is asking for.

Because a PC just works? You've got to be kidding me. PCs are crap.

I haven't had a problem since Windows 98. Though you may have a point, if your only PC is experience is Windows 95. I'd recommend MAC over WIN95 any day.

Point of clarification: if you’re on the internet (or even a local network), it’s pretty rare to use a PC without using MAC.

I think Anonymous Coward meant “Mac,” especially since that’s what we’re talking about here. ;-)
by the Otter on April 15th, 2008
No, MAC as in Apple MACintosh. I did not mean MAC address.
by Anonymous on April 15th, 2008
Sorry, Coward; MAC is Media Access Control; Mac is an Apple Macintosh. I’m really not trying to be mean; this is just a major pet peeve of mine. It’s like when people say “backslash” in web addresses, even though I’ve never seen a backslash in a web address (they’re always solidi—forward slashes).

Stop playing games, even you called it a Mac, QUOTE:

In this Q/A session no one here is referring to networking, incuding you.

I agree. No one’s talking about networking. That’s why it’s a Mac, not a MAC.
