I smile and say hello to almost everyone that I pass on the street. Unless they are really shifty or creepy looking.
-
If it's just the two of us in passing, I generally say "Hi" or "How are you?" and smile.
-
I'm a nod and smile kinda person
-
I may smile and say hello but no I do not wave at strangers in public places.
-
I say hello and smile at everyone I pass even homeless people.
-
Yes, I usually say "Hi" or "How are You?" It's polite, I think. I don't wave unless it's at a baby or small child. And remember: never wave above the tiara.
-
Yes, I do. I love connecting with other people, even if it's just for a second.
-
I give them a smile and a nod.
-
I tend to nod at everyone I pass, maybe with a smile. If it's that long, uncomfortable walk towards each other where you both are trying to decide whether you should make eye contact or not, it will usually provoke a "Howdy" from me along with the nod just to get it out of the way. *laugh*
-
Yes. I usually acknowledge people I pass by. I give a hello, a smile, or good morning, good day how's it going?
-

I say all kind of things to strangers ! ( SOME TIMES ITS " HEY I DIDN T KNOW YOU WERE ALLOWED BACK HERE EVER SINCE THAT ""SHOPLIFTING INCODENT"" people get a charge out of that >)

If we make eye contact, I obviousley, for whatever reason, found something about the person's manner approachable enough to do so. Once eye contact is made, I should think it would be rather... no not rude but rather... improper to not give some sort of indication that you recognized them with something on than a blank stare. So depending on approachability, and or friendliness that person displays I may or may not wave, smile, nod my head at them, and on very rare occasion say "hello", or "how are you" in passing. The most common for me however is a simplistic smile.
-
If they initiate and say something I always smile and respond back. Occasionally if I meet someone's eye while walking down the street I'll say good morning, but I'm pretty shy so it's rare that I would do that.
-
yup I do say something
-
Yes, if they look my way, I always speak and/or smile whether they initiate it or not.
-
Yes I do, some are raised this way. I moved to a big city and found out everyone is not this way.
-
Yes, I'm a country boy and I was brought up that this was the polite thing to do.
-
On my post delivery i'll always say 'good morning' even if i don't know them.
-
I always look up and am ready to smile and say "good morning" or whatever is appropriate to that time of day. If I make eye contact and the person smiles, we exchange greetings and smiles. If the person avoids my gaze and perhaps even looks away I say nothing and move along. Some people are simply unavailable so why make them feel uncomfortable? Others welcome the approach..I certainly welcome friendliness and a nice greeting.
-
If we make eye contact, yes. Or, if they happen to be a cute guy. ;)
-
If the person seems friendly and in the mood to be greeted, then yes, I do greet them. Sometimes, though, if I'm in a bit of a hurry or just in a bad mood that day, I refuse to greet anyone.
