Moonlighting is working another job, in addition to your main, full-time job. So, you get off your day job and work some more, into the afternoon and evening... Fun fun fun. :)

It mean to have a second job in addition to one's primary source of income. For example, one of my high school math teachers moonlighted by teaching evening courses for the community college as well.

Moonlighting comes from the bootlegging era in the USA circa the 1920s. People would work a "day job" and then make "moonshine" (liquor) at night by the light of the moon, hence "moonlighting." Likewise, the word "bootlegging" came from moonlighters carrying moonshine back in their bootlegs.
