Replace the SCR101 regulator transistor...located on the right side of the chassis, and installed in its own vertical "U" shaped bracket. Two screws, three leads, and a little mounting paste. Chassis slides out of the tv, so its really easy to get to. This must be a Colortrak television...exceptional picture, even by today's standards. Yes, it would cost you a couple of hundred dollars to have someone do this for you, but most of that is paying them to lift their oversized ass out of a chair and put down the bowl of potato chips. Actual cost...about 3 bucks.
A 32" TV tube is not worth fixing. You are looking at around $200 to repair it minimum as most repair places charge 80-125 for the first hour of work. Just replace it.

You're reading I have a 32" RCA tube television that is about 12 years old. Recently, the picture image seems to be covered by a 'grey shield' with white horizontal lines running through the image? Ideas? Worth fixing?
