If the officer didn't put a beat number or area number on the ticket but later a notice is sent correcting this error, can the ticket be dismissed in court?

    No......if your name, driv. lic., address, etc. is on the citation, the citation is very valid. beat and area number are really for statistical information than anything else.

    The officer sent you an ammendation--the "notice correcting his error." That's an official document that goes to the violator, the court, and one remains at the officer's office. Correcting an error isn't grounds for dismissing a ticket. In fact, it's even better because now your ticket has no errors.
    Even without the ammendation, the ticket would have been valid because, as Pennington said, Beat and Area numbers are for statistical purposes only. You probably don't even know what beat you were driving on or what area you were in. :-)
