  • Have a stylist chemically strip your hair. You hair will then be a blond shade, and can be dyed whatever color you want. I have grey hair and went through the process a few years ago when I was in a theater production. I was a blond for 5 minutes once in my life! Just remember that when you no longer want this color you will either have to let it grow out or repeat the stripping process and redye to a color close to your natural color.
  • I have black hair and I have to get it striped, to the color I want. and it cost from 200-300 dollars. its very expensive!
  • Depending on the darkest of your hair it may just turn a variety of colors that are only red, auburnish no matter what product you use over the counter. If it does anything at all. I have very black hair that only turns red even if I use peroxide on it.
  • YOU FREAKIN CANT!!! GOSH! i want to dye my hair a brownish red color but my hair is black so it barely shows up! its such a waste! and i do NOT plan on stripping my hair!
  • depends on how dark your hair is. you could use an at home color stipper and strip the color. or if its a jet black i would go and pay for it to get professionally stripped. its alot safer and it would be worth the money
  • I just had that done; it's been a nightmare. I went to a professional salon thinking everything would come out OK. My hair is now 3 inches shorter and as course as a horse's tail, and it's not even a brown yet. The stylist said my hair overeacted to the heating element. My hair was a yellow color and now it's a blondish brown and red color. My hair color before was an almost black color; meaning very dark brown. The stylist has taken responsibility and has since cut my hair twice and also conditioned it twice, and is waiting a month to color my hair again, so as to give me the medium brown i wanted. I;ll never do that again!
  • You have to bleach the heck out of it first you should probably go to a professional.
  • I am of African decent, and had my hair colored a very bleach blonde. I have always had incredibly dark black hair. But my eldest sister dyed my hair for me blonde...and it turned out quite great. It was easy, and i didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money at all.
