it is good for anyone to understand WHY they believe and not just say "because god says so". I have much more respect for people that truly understand christianity than those who were raised in a church and are only christians because their parents took them to church, and they never doubted what they were being told.

It is crucial! Believe me, you will be asked questions that even scholars can't answer. So, you have to be able to at least make a credible answer when put on the spot. Just remember one important thing. I have been studying for over 30 years, and I still feel like a beginner. It takes lots of study, lots of prayer, and lots of heart before you will be comfortable with the knowledge you have. And, when put on the spot, never be afraid to say you don't know the answer yet, but you can take them to someone who may know the answer, (a teacher, a pastor, etc.).

I am not religious in fact i am agnostic, but i realize just be cause youbelieve in god doesnt mean you a crazy lunitic, all it means is that you believe that their is a reason why we are here, theri is a reason why we,breath ,live die, and came to be.

I think it is very important for you to do your own research and find out facts. Otherwise, you are simply listening and absorbing someone else's opinion indiscriminately. Thus, you will go around spreading falsehoods (a sin, remember), and generally sounding ignorant.

Unfortunately, I think most Christians believe that studying and researching about moral issues should be conducted through reading the Bible, and using that as the only source for information and guidance. Plus maybe talking to the head of your Church about those questions or "doubts". Like as though having such questions is a bad thing, your faith is being tested, and now you need to ignore what you've heard from outside the Church, shut your eyes and ears, and just do whatever the Bible says (or your Church's interpretation of the Bible). When I was at a Christian school, we were discouraged from learning about other religions, and only had to study Christianity's history and the Bible and things about the church.

You only need to prove God, proving other theories wrong does not matter.
