Help answer this question below.
By taking little steps to achieve this goal.
I was a roofer with little fear of heights,,until I had to jump from a collapsing roof line,I became petrified of heights.(and broke my pelvis at the same time),but,it was my life,my income required me to overcome this irrational fear I had,so I began to take smaller houses and small jobs requiring me little fear of the height.
Eventually I got past the fear and am now just as I was before the fall,,,to some extent.Once bitten, twice shy.
I'm not as bad with heights as i used to
Did a bridge climb that was fine - it was high up, but being strapped in with harnesses and rails etc - i had no fear coz there was no way i could fall.
When i went to movieworld i went on the big roller coaster (was forced into it)The first time i went on it i closed my eyes the whole time, so i heard everyone screaming, but i couldn't see anything - just 'felt' the ride. It was not bad at all, and when i went a second time, i had my eyes open and it was fine. I then kept wanting to go on it and got bored because it wasn't scary anymore :)
I recently did a skydive and thought it would be freaky-as. It was so not as scary as it seemed!
A lot of it comes down to your thinking. If you think really positive before you do something freaky, it's not bad at all!
About 3 years ago, i was afrraid of heights, kept away from the edges and always had someting secure to hold onto. Then because of a friend i took up rock climbing, going up was no problem, but coming down was, i was crying, and freezing up.
But after a while i realised there was nothing to be afraid of, all i learnt was trust in where i was and my body to be able to move me to where i wanted; this helped me conquer my fear and now i am not afected by heights at all.
So my advice . . . take up a sport which involves heights, it will allow you to gain confidence and a new perspective, and alos the people you do the sport with are always friendly, many had the same fear when they started i found with my group!
Hope i have been of help! and sorry it is such a long answer.
