Is there ever a topic of converstation you always end up joining, hoping the outcome will change for the better- but you always leave that type of conversation angry and wondering why you did it again? What is it?

Religion. Your not ever going to change anyone else's views. Why even try?

I have had many. Most of them are about religious issues or racism/bigotry issues.

What makes a topic an unpalatable one, regardless the issue, is if the other party becomes rude.

I do not tolerate rudeness easily online or in real life. As soon as someone is rude, I end the conversation.

If it occurs online, I state that I do not converse with rude people, say "have a nice day", and leave the thread. Then I say "why did I bother??"

In real life, when that happens, I tell them basically the same thing and, if I can, walk away. If I cannot, like at work, they are on cold ignore.

I also end the conversation once I realize that the discussion has become circular and it is like running in a huge hamster wheel.

That happens to me in most any political debate. I just get frustrated with the narrow-mindedness of some people, as I'm sure they do with me. I have my views, and they aren't going to change no matter how awesome your argument is...I suppose people whose views are different than mine feel the same way, but it's still frustrating to think you're right and have someone disagreeing with you lol

I always seem to find myself involved in conversations about abortion. Its not that i hope that I can change anyones point of view..or would even try...its just a topic of interest to me. i always end up disapointed in the way they end up..name calling, quoting of propaganda and judgement thrown around senslessly...its a dissapointment to me that people cannot or will not consider a point of veiw other than the one they already hold.

That happened some times, yes but I learned my lesson, after the second time around maybe.
I'm hardly a sucker for punishment, so I stay far away from topics that seem to lead nowhere and are mostly subjects having to do with own beliefs, politics or faith at least in the sense of being confrontational about it or trying to change someone else's POV which is a waste of time anyway.
