BECAUSE IT IS THE SICKEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. EVERYONE INVOLVED IN IT SHOULD BE IN JAIL AND LOCKED UP SO THEY CANT EVER PRACTICE IT AGAIN. AS WELL AS SOMEONE SHOULD PRABABLY GIVE THEM THE BIBLE AND MAKE THEM READ UP ON WHAT IT SAYS CAUSE THOSE PEOPLE ARE LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have no logistical rules or laws set up for it in America. The real reason is it goes against overall mores of America accepted by most. We would need new laws for such an undertaking. If a guy marries another woman and doesn't tell his current wife does it count because it alters the dynamic of their relationship. Would you like knowing that half of what you thought was yours was given away without your permission. What if a woman marries 12 rich guys? Does she get 12 fortunes? Questions like this and many others would need answers. Countries that allow polygamy already have rules in place for this.

A lot of reasons. In the U.S. one main reason is because of religion and it's views. Besides, The family is very important and children having two loving role models. With polygamy, the males probably would have time to spend with EACH child.

Since we have a law to govern everything, can you imagine the disaster a divorce would be? Who gets the kids, visitation rights, child support payments?? In our society it would be virtually impossible to support so many people. It actually protects children from going without the basic necessities. I would imagine the welfare system would be drained as well. :)
