you have to fill the sandbox with odor absorbing crystal sand. your house is odor free and only the sand is smelling. everytime you see the kitten make a move to pee move him to the sandbox. when he done take him out. make sure that the sandbox is at a corner of a room, because cats don't want people and others to disturb them while they are doing their things. make sure you change the sand every day. if you do this for a week , week and 1/2 you cat will get used to pee there. about sleep: make him a cardboard box with an old blanket where he can sleep and put a toy in it, so the kitten couls get used to the box.

after she drinks or eats wait 5 minutes then put her in the box until she goes then take her back out. pay attention to how it takes her to go so you can adjust the time between eating/drinking and sticking her in there.

It has been my experieince that if the kitten has ever used the litter box and can get to it on her own, she will go when she needs to. You shouldn't need to put her there at all.

Weird...we've raised several kittens and we've never had to TEACH them to use the litter box they just do it.

If you have a 4 week old kitten that has been taken from it's mother that young, don't expect too much. It should still be drinking mom's milk and having mom clean her messes up. That is way too young for a kitten to be separated from it's mother. Don't expect too much in the beginning-she's just too young. It could take weeks for her to figure out the litter box concept.

Take it from me, I have 2 cats and 5 kittens. 1 is still being bottle fed. Some cats you don't have to teach them how to use the litter box and some you do. My little one, in the beginning, I had to put him in the litter box after he ate and he do used to fall asleep in the box. After a couple of weeks, your cat will get used to it to. Just please be patient, and after your kitten eats, wait a few minutes and them put her in the litter box. Thanks.

I take it the kitten was taken away from her mother too soon? One thing you should try is to take a warm wet washcloth and wipe her genitals with it after you put her in the box. This may make her do her business. When the mother has them she licks them there so that stimulates them to go to the bathroom. Give her a little time, though, because she is still very young to have the litter box down pat just yet, but at least you'll be giving her the idea! I hope this helps!

She is way too young! Her mom should still be licking her bum, sweetheart! Use a warm washcloth after feeding her to stimulate her to go to the bathroom. You'll need to so it at least one more week. By 6 weeks of age, she'll do it on her own :)

As others have said, she is very young and perhaps a bit too young to catch on to the litter box concept. However, I have trained all my kittens to use the box the first time like this: when they pee out of the box the very first time, I put some litter in it and then put that litter back in the box. They follow their scent after that. Believe me, it has worked for me every time. They always do it in the box after that.

What I used to do was get a large quite deep box. Put kitty's bedding at one end and at the other end put shredded paper over some plastic. Kitty will NEVER pee or poo where it sleeps. Instead it will crawl along to the shredded paper and do it's business there and then crawl back to it's bed. Keep it's food and water outside the box but give kitty access to it at least 6 times a day. Cats are naturally fastidious creatures and this will work. Trust me!

they will learn leave them along right now they'll grow out

She just too young. They should have left her with her mother until she was at least 6-8 weeks old.
