Most do, but, like humans it varies. Overall, yes. I can open a can of food and every one of our cats are right there waiting for it in a matter of minutes. I thought it was the sound, but one of are kids is going deaf (we think). But the smell wakes them up. A fun thing I like to do is QUIETLY open a can of food when one of our kids are sleeping, then wave it under her nose. I'M AWAKE, WHERE IS IT!!!!!
