How many provinces were part of Canada when the Transcontinental railroad was completed?

    Seven. They were: British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. Not all had the same borders as today. Saskatchewan and Alberta were created as provinces in 1905. Newfoundland joined the Confederation in 1949.
