I've seen Marines in their dress uniforms wearing white pants instead of the blue ones. What are these? Are they worn for special occasions like a funeral?

White pants are usually worn by an honor guard, or drill team. most marines below the rank of E3 wear blue pants, officers and enlisted personnel above the rank of Corporal (E4) have red piping down the legs of their trousers.

The white trousers are typically worn in the summer, I think they look better than the blue trousers.

White pants are worn by SNCOs and officers except in certain units such as the silent drill team. They are a summer uniform item.

White pants are worn in special ceremonies, such as yes, funerals and parades. Marine Barracks Washington is mainly the Marines I've seen that wear the white pants, they march the funerals at arlington and do different parades around the country, along with the silent drill plt.
