  • Politicians as a class are liars. In US politics, a politician pretty much has to be a liar to succeed. So: no, as far as political leaders (i.e. President, state Governor, city Mayor), I don't expect any of them to be either moral or trustworthy, and as far as I know none of them are. *** THAT BEING SAID, there are some politicians who, during my life, HAVE seemed trustworthy in the senses that they seemed both capable and honest...but I can count them on one hand. Currently, the only one I know who seems to be both is Mike Pence...and it's surprising that someone like that could manage to become Vice President.
  • They all start out being that way.
  • I wouldn't trust any of my political leaders to tell me the time of day they are all self serving pieces of shit. They have been selling out my country my entire life. Theres fuckall left the people actually own. Kill the lot of them is my thoughts on them. If I ever goto Canberra I'd like to lock them all in paralment house weld the doors closed and set fire to the building.

Now that always sounds a good idea.

Closest we've got to that since Guy Fawkes is the burning of political effigies at Lewes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbKqgC6HLCI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFW2llTndrQ
  • No. But then, Donald Trump was no politician. He was able to look beyond the dollar signs of corruption to see the people's needs and what needed to be fixed. He was able to do this because he was one of the people. It was the corrupt political class that went after him to try and stop him from exposing them for what they were and derailing their gravy train. And still, the attacks continue as long as he remains a threat to them.

He even donated his pay. If he could only learn when to shut up.

Trump is quite boastful, I'll grant you that. It's probably the only thing I don't like about him. But then, I didn't vote for him for his speech etiquette - I voted for him to do just what he did. If you (collectively speaking) wanted a "sweet talker", you had a boatload of professional career politicians to choose from. Frankly, I prefer to think for myself and choose the one I believe will do the best job.
  • I think few of them are. I don't align myself with any of them at this point. And the hypocrisy and disparity disgusts me.

You're exactly where I am politically.
  • No one wants a liar to represent them.

Yet, you're a Liberal. Fancy that.
