  • A wooden knife organizer is very useful. To protect knives from rust, dry them immediately after you wash them.
  • One way to prevent rust is to buy stainless steel knives, or anything that won't rust to begin with. If you have knives that rust Jenny is right dry them right away. And it wouldn't hurt to coat them with olive oil.
  • Store them someplace dry, away from salt, etc. All of the things you should generally do with mild steel of any sort. You can clean them in mineral oil, as long as it's food-safe mineral oil, but, honestly, just don't buy knives that will rust and you should be all set. I mean, 99% of all modern kitchen knives are either stainless or ceramic nowadays.
