  • Well...is it "human" to - say - get pregnant? Well...for about half the population: yes. For the other half: no. Likewise: when you say "it is human to talk about feelings"...do you mean that all humans spend at least a certain minimum amount of time talking about their feelings? If that IS what you mean, I'd respond: "Not all humans are the way you imagine them to be. Different humans have different needs and desires and abilities, and for some of them, talking about their feelings is very low on their list of priorities."

I understand we all have different needs and desires but some people just don’t want to have the time for talking about feelings to their friends and family. Some people are cut off from emotions and that is not good for their mental health. As Shrek says “better out than in as I always say”

Well...OK. Let's say there's a person who doesn't want to talk about their feelings to their friends and family. Doesn't that answer the question? You say, "It's human to do this..."...but then we have this person, a human, who has no desire to do this. Perhaps the person has a real emotional problem (i.e. needs professional help)...or perhaps the person is very much happier NOT talking about such things. I.e. perhaps the person is quite content when not having such discussions, and is distressed BY such discussions, and realizes that. I'm no expert on this stuff (to put it mildly), but...I wouldn't assume the person is "cut off from their emotions" or suffering from some mental/emotional disease, not unless they showed SYMPTOMS ("acting out") of such a disease.

      I know what you mean
  • Why would I want to talk with a stanger for. Don't think I want to listen to, tell me how you feel type bs usually when I hear that crap the tosser is makeing excuses as to why something they said was going to happen isn't done.
    • Shadow Of The Mind
I did not mean talking to a stranger about feelings but only with those who you know are close to you such as family and friends

Why would I want to talk about crap like that with my mates? Take a cup of concrete
    • Shadow Of The Mind
That’s up to you to be like that. Those who talk about feelings are more in touch with being human
    • 11stevo73
really? What does it achieve at the end of the day?

It makes you lack in empathy not think about the feelings of those close to you. Everyone in the world has feelings. It is healthy to talk about feelings whether it’s positive or negative. It makes a person feel better in themselves talking about negative feelings inside of them. If you don’t care about that it means you are insensitive to others and insensitivity is an ugly thing in anyone

      That's what therapists are for.
  • Some people don't care about feelings, especially not someone else's. And no one wants to hear about YOUR FEELINGS ALL THE TIME.

In response to your other comment on here, therapists are not the only people to talk about feelings. If there are loved ones who care about you properly they would listen to how you feel. I understand that some people don’t care about the feelings of those they don’t know. Some people don’t care about the feelings of anyone at all because they are heartless and emotionally insensitive
  • No, it is not "human to talk about feelings".What you're referring to is called "exploiting the emotional response" - a practice used by certain groups that uses the power of sympathy to manipulate the way people behave. Political Correctness is notorious for doing this. They lead people to believe that they have an inherent right to not be offended - this too is wrong. Those of us who can cope with everyday life don't have time to coddle those who can't - and we shouldn't be forced to.
  • Why are some people controlled by their emotions while other people take the initiative and take control of their emotions? Genesis 4:6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
