On a first date, what does it mean when a guy wants you to call him when for the next date?

If you're still on the firt date and he's requesting that you make tentative plans on when you'll call him again, it sounds like he may be a little needy. He's probably been hurt and probably likes you, but doesn't want to sit around and wait for days for you to call. If he's already showing this on the first date you can bet it's only going to get worse. Needy and clingy on a first date is a huge, neon, blinking red flag.

Maybe he couldn't get a good idea as to how you feel about him and whether or not you would be interested in a second date (he wasn't able to pick up on any signs during the first date). So he just put the ball in your court and let you decided whether or not you wanted a second date at all.
