"Tainted Love" was originally a 60's pop song (Gloria Jones) that had characteristics of R&B, Soul and Rock. (It's actually pretty good, even though it was never a big hit). {{ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJKe2j9Wjh4&t=130s }} Then, in the 80s, the synthpop band Soft Cell recorded a remake that was astoundingly popular. The song can certainly be described as "New Wave" (referring to a "second wave" of the British rock "invasion"), but certainly it could NOT be described as "New Age", which was an altogether COMPLETELY different type of music.

www.bible-reviews.com, nobody is arguing about who wrote the song, far less of the MORE than 10 different versions of the song. Tainted Love was written and produced by Ed Cobb. Gloria Jones first sang the song in 1964. Then it was released in 1965, but English duo Soft Cell‘s 1981 synthpop version is the one that made this song famous. It charted numerous times in the early 1980's for me to ask the question. And that you can count on.

Personally I wouldn't describe that as New Age OR New Wave. I'd say it's Soft Rock.

www.bible-reviews.com, I Want to Know What Love Is - is a power ballad that was released in 1984. In a way, the song has a bit and I say just a bit of a New Age style coming from Mick Jones' voice. New Age radio stations play the song a lot. It could be why Moving Violation thought of the song.
