Is it good ol' fashioned discipline for a high school teacher to slap a student?

Well...no. Real "old fashioned" school discipline involves a wooden switch and bare buttocks. Slightly less "old fashioned" school discipline - the school discipline of my time (60s and 70s) - involves a large, heavy wooden paddle (with air holes drilled in it for improved aerodynamics) and no bare buttocks. *** Slapping is out-of-line, IMO, though ***if the video is real*** I suspect that the student said something very disrespectful and was slapped for that reason. *** ALSO: depends on the type of school. Some states (or: school systems) have "hard case" schools in which certain types of physical punishment of students by teachers is not only allowed - it's encouraged. I do NOT know if slapping is permitted in such schools.

Jenny The Great ⭐ Thanks for sharing! There was an incident were a Florida school principal paddled a 6 year old girl on the buttocks. She was not found guilty. The high school student in the YouTube video was slapped. If you are a minor, that's considered child abuse.
