  • I tend to believe the problem lies when one group's beliefs impose on another group's.
  • People are different. They have different points of view. Obviously our ancient ancestors did not share the same points of view when it came to the gods they thought existed and how those gods should be propitiated. The fact is that religions mirror societies and their values as a whole and have long had a major influence on the way societies are organized and conducted, so one's views on religion have always reflected much larger issues -- issues usually WORTH arguing about.
  • When you have nothing FACTUAL to share, all you can do is argue. But, for educated people, there is no argument. Imaginary god creatures ARE NOT REAL and DO NOT EXIST. Nobody has ever proven otherwise.
  • Tribalism. "My _____ can beat up your _____!" Fill in the blank with your choice of god, king, dictator, dad, pokemon, etc.
