  • I've never done them myself, but my grandmother had external (beam) therapy, and a friend of mine had internal therapy. The external therapy is super easy. 15-20 minutes strapped to a chair and you're on your way. There usually aren't many side effects. Internal therapy can be a bit more psychologically stressful, but, from what I've been told, is still much easier than chemo. There are a few different kinds of internal therapy, too, and I'm not sure exactly which my friend had, but it was permanently left in him.

      I have a port, but its temporary. Should be out within a year. That's pretty much what my doctors are telling me. The chemo was the hardest part. Radiation is every day for 3-4 weeks but that's not really that long. Then again I haven't even started yet! I start Monday. I went back on herceptin yesterday.
