  • Disclaimer: I didn't read the article. Racism is a scapegoat for poor performance. Telling someone its o.k. to stay dumb because of their race is racist!! How can they not see that?!! Public schooling is a disaster! And it all started with government intervention. I'm for online and home schooling. Kids don't need to learn how to be little gangstas! And they need to learn how to be self motivated, how to learn and think for themselves and how to work and take pride in a job well done. They need to be commended on their effort, even though results matter. Teaching answers to tests is not as effective in the long run.

I agree 100% about government intervention. Since Carter created the Dept of Education, student performance has dropped and federal spending on education has skyrocketed. The federal government has no business being in the business of education. Leave it to the local communities and to the states.

I agree with most of what you said with the one exception being I think the federal government does have the proper instructors for educating and training the military.

The military is different than regular schooling though.
  • Following up by clicking the link in the article back to the original Stanford study that seems to have spurred this leads to the revelation that the entire story is based on lack of basic literacy. The original article refers to schools that required a credit in ethnic studies (as its own subject), not classes that integrate ethnic studies into other subjects. Mathematics doesn't change from different cultural perspectives - it's the language of the universe, not of any specific culture or creed!

To me, it's social justice warriors who are more concerned about feelings.
