  • Yeah, that's in the town where I grew up, not at all far from the neighbourhood where I grew up. Alter Rd and Jefferson, I think. Anyway... you can't charge ticket prices based on race. The people promoting the concert/festival said that they wanted to charge people a fair price and keep the price lower for lower-income people. To me, that just makes it worse, because they are indirectly saying that they assume that if you are black, you can't afford $20 to go to a concert. I think that they could have saved some face by making a new policy that "volunteers get in for free" or something like that. I think that they could have even offered a coupon or discount for people who lived in the local area or whatever. That neighbourhood is about 80% black and 20% white, I think.

They did charge different prices based on race. What they tried to do was justify it with some bullshit about black poor people and the even would get taken over by the rich whites. They only changed it because they backlash they got after performers started pulling out because of it and because the sites hosting the sales said they couldn't charge different prices based on race. But of course the organizer said it was changed because the "right-wing" started calling and harassing her family. Typical.

I wonder how many white people bought tickets to the festival anyway.

One was too many if so. Imagine the outrage if the roles were reversed and black were charged more to get into a concert. Or anything for that matter.

Looking at the addresse given for the venue on google maps, it looks like the place might only fit 50-60 people anyway. I'm surprised anyone even noticed the policy, given that scale. But, to reiterate for stress: you can't charge ticket prices based on race.
  • Don't be such a triggered snowflake. They work with and for poor Black children and wanted a gimmick to publicise the event - especially considering it would be 99.5% attended by Blacks anyway. But they marketed it wrong and it got the wrong sort of attention and people like you started up with your 2 cents and spoiled it all.

Yeah Archie! Its all your fault! Hahahahaha!

Charging different prices based on the color of your skin is okay as long as you're white. Good to know, 22. Your hypocrisy is excused.
  • I like bostjan's idea of letting volunteers in free or half price but the whole race thing is biased and stupid! Its like going back generations to when they said a black person didn't count as a whole person! But the other side didn't want them counted at all! Why would you want to go backwards and let someone tell you you're only worth half? Do you want equal rights or not?!

Equal unless you're white. Then that kind of discrimination is okay.
