They {those associated with helping parents adopt} are afraid children will be subjected to a bad home life or abusive parents. They want to dot there i's and cross there t's so no one can blame them and sue them.

Having adopted more than once I sense you are asking what I constantly do - how come ANY person who is bilogically capable of having children can do so with NO regard from the lawmakers of how fit/unfit they are to be parents - and then the ludicrous anmount of beuracratic nonsense an adoptive parent has to go through is justified as being 'in the interests of the child' I will believe they are interested in the child - and not their entrenched sense of power and the fees they gather so efficiently and frequesntly - when they start removing children from homes that anyone except a self-deluding 'civil rights' idiot KNOWS is harmful for the child who has to endure it. However, that will bring protests and possible loss of votes so we know it won't happen. It is the same kind fo arrant nonsense that states a convicted felon can NEVER be involved in owning a Race Horse - but they can open a Daycare canter should they so wish under rather less-than-stringent requirements.

Lots of reasons...it isn't like adopting a pet where you can easily return it or...euthanize it if it becomes too much of a nuisance! I think one reason (of many) is to buy time...that is to make the process time-consuming and expensive and paper heavy..to eliminate impulse adopters! Many folk do throw up their hands and withdraw because of too many obstacles. Well...that's good, isn't it? If they give up that easily, they certainly would be less likely to jump the many hurdles and challenges of raising a non-biological child which they HAVE TO LEARN TO LOVE...

It depend if you adopt thru the agency ... It's very super important to have a good agncy. We got an excellent one, and we adopted our beautiful daughter from overseas. I can't say it was awfully difficult. A paper work is a pain in the neck, and so are finger prints, etc. etc.
