Why do people on Answerbag ask some dumb questions and dumb people anwer them? Why do important questions on answerbag never get answered?

What may seem "dumb" to you, may not seem "dumb" to others. Other times, they may simply be having fun. Afterall, we do have a category called "Crazy Thoughts". As for good questions receiving answers, many of them do. It may not be the minute it's posted, but there are tons of helpful and intelligent users who go back through and pull these questions up.

I'd say this whole issue depends on how you define a "Dumb" question. There are a lot of questions that seem totally pointless, but offer oppurtunities for conversation that can lead to something much more worthwhile than the question at face value. Even the dumbest of questions can be made worthwhile if the right people choose to come along and breath some life into it. And then there are some questions that people define as "Dumb" because they relate to the asker's very specific personal experience and don't seem to open up many issues for discussion. As for those, I think many of us could do to remember that those kinds of questions are what the site if technically intended for, and that those questions, the old cliched "Am I pregant?" or "Should I stay with my girlfriend/boyfriend/partner?" etc., however dumb and over-specific they may seem from the outside, are quite important to the people asking them. As long as there is a question, there will be answers, and sometimes people just aren't up to giving long drawn out philosophical answers to those big "Important" questions.

There are sometimes where "Outside the bag" questions are asked, and many answer them. Other times, serious questions get answered one day or another. Sometimes, the important questions don't get answered for 2 main reasons. Probably a user is not here who may be an expert When the question was asked. Many have said about when the question should be asked. If the question is asked where few users are here on Answerbag, then there are fewer chances that the question will be answered. On the dumb questions part, some may take the question in a different manner. Other times, it's just another day to goof-off or to take a break from the serious questions.

I come here to relax and have some fun. Every once in a while if I see a serious question that I know alot about I will answer but for the most part I just want to have a good time and some laughs. I have never seen an important question go unanswered though.

Anyone can throw in a stupid answer to a dumb question. It takes specific knowledge to answer many of the important questions and not just generate conversations. There seem to be a couple thousand people throughout the entire world that spend time here. Many of those seem to be illiterate or kids with little life knowledge. There just may not be anyone here with the answer to many of the important questions.

Beauty I rated you back up even though I do like some of the silly questions.. I do know what it is like to come on and be in a serious mood.. your mood and attitude controls your tolerance and you may not be in a mood to goof off.. I can relate to that. I do not see important questions not get answered. Usually someone does.. or many. A lot I skip because to be quite honest.. if I do not know much about it.. there is no use posting and making a fool of myself.. I can do that all on my own without trying to talk about something I have no clue about. If you have an important question that was not answered.. ask it again and I am sure we will all look to try and help.

I don't think it's fair to say anyones question or answer is dumb. Some people use AB to obtain information, others may be using it to have fun. That's what makes it a great website, you can ask any question that pops into your head, wether serious or not.

How can you be certain that a question is dumb? Maybe you simply don't understand it. What makes you think you can correctly judge whether or not someone else is "dumb"? If you don't agree with someone's answer, that doesn't make the answer "dumb", it means you don't agree with it. You may consider a question important, but that doesn't make it important to other people. You seem extremely judgmental to me, both with respect to questions that are asked, the answers given, and the questions that are ignored.

I was about to ask that question and you beat me to it.I think it is that the easy questions and answers require less thought and everyone will be able to answer.When it comes to provocative questions that require one to put themselves on the line,and prove themselves. People don't answer because or fear of judgement from others in this web site.

It's possible they may not have an answer to the more difficult questions. For example, you will never see me answer a question about computer tech stuff, because I'm computer dumb. My answer would be useless.

I do both because sometimes it is just fun to be silly, but I answer serious, thought provoking questions with sincerity when I feel I have something to offer. I also like to answer questions from friends if I think it will help us get to know each other.

I do like to relax, have fun and joke around. But I believe I did answer a couple serious questions! Or did I? :o)
