Worn or ill-fitting piston rings allowing blowby of fuel from the combustion chambers into the crankcase, not unusual with high mileage engines suffering from cylinder erosion, either.

You probably blew a seal in the engine somewhere. You have to get it taken care of soon, there is no quick fix on it.

That "Slant 6" had 2 problems, both easy fixes. The "Fuel Pump" leaking Gas into Oil & the Distributor Drive Gear being made of "Nylon" & Not "Normalized"!!! As that was a "Hot Engine", they would generally replace the Pump with an Electric unit. The gear needs to be "Boiled" in water for 10 min. to release the pressure on the Nylon gear from the manufacturing process. Three Deuces on this puppy would blow the doors off any small block 8!!! I had and rebuilt Slant 6's for years and gas in the oil usually resulted in the diaphram in the mechanical fuel pump being cracked or split. Very easy to replace.

generally this problem is caused by float level set to high in carb or some other carb issue ie. hole in float bad needle and seat etc. pull off carb and have it rebuilt by qualified tech or just exchange for new rebuilt carb at your local part store 99% sure
