Depends how much younger than 18. Some 16-17 year olds are very mature and I could see no problem as long as you fancied them for more than just looks, and also respected them. A 10 year old would be far from just a "little" creepy and I would advise you to the nearest psychologist.

Are you talking about simply thoughts, but no actions? You can't control that, and there is nothing wrong with it. Just yesterday I watched a Sienfield re-run- the episode where George was staring at the cleavage of an NBC executive's teenage daughter, because they were in his "field of view". ... oh, and by "under 18" I assume you mean just a little under 18, not someone pre-pubescent. If you mean a child, you should consider talking to a therapist.

I think by saying "fancy" the poster is referring to having a "crush". While it may be morally wrong to do so, it is not illegal. You cannot be jailed for what you're thinking.... yet.

Yes, it is wrong. The only way I would see it as even close to okay, is if the one you fancy is 17, and close to turning 18. If you've put any actions to your fancies, you could be in BIG legal trouble. Back off, at least for now. And, try to connect with someone a little bit older. I do respect you for asking, tho'. Please listen to what most of the ABers are telling you.

I'm sorry 17 is wayyyy to young for someone over 20. Of course that's my opinion. This is also my opinion, a person middleaged that goes for very young people has alot of issues. Girls think men that are that age are cool, if their good looking and have MONEY and have a nice car! But they are JUST girls, they have alot of growing to do, inside and out. The brain doesn't muture until 25yrs old, and then you just start making some intelligent decisions. I said some!!! In order to be able to make these kinds of decisions about your life, you need to live for awhile. I put it as simply as i could. Again, this is my opinion.

Okay everyone says it's illegal. What IS illegal is child pornography, any sexual move upon them (including kissing) and exposing them to something sexual while being underage. Fancying someone, and actually dating someone underage is a lot different, especially, like I said before, if they are 16-17 years old. That ISN'T illegal. It may be awkward that someone more middle age likes them, but as long as they do not "DO" anything, they cannot be prosecuted.

When it comes down to it. If you are above the age of consent in your country, then there is nothing wrong with it AT ALL! If you have a sexually mature body (as in all the signs of sexual maturity) then it is perfectly reasonable to assume that another sexual mature adult (OF ANY AGE) will find you attractive... because THAT IS WHAT SEXUAL SIGNS ON THE BODY ARE FOR!!!!!!! People who say otherwise are in denial of basic natural urges. Also culture and society are always pushing the "youthful body" as the cultural norm for what is sexually appealing (porn, advertising, the music industry etc. etc.) - So it is hardly "odd"! Also on the whole Men are attracted to younger women (generally between 16- 25... just look at old rich rock stars... there is a reason they all date 18 year old models!!) As with any relationship, if what you are doing is legal, honest and non abusive, then it is fine.

Regardless, it's probably not too smart. It's easy to find the young, thin body attractive and appreciate the smooth skin and pretty teeth and hair before they get all funky and nasty, but who wants a brat for a wife? They start missing Mommy and your love life goes to pot, and does it over and over again because she's too young to understand what she's doing, which is probably just rebelling against being torn away from her childhood and forced to face the challenge of adult life before she is prepared. Taking a baby out of the crib does nobody any good, but since you both are continuing to age, recognize the age difference and go pick on somebody who's ready for a grown-up style romance. I say this having dated a 17-y-o while I was in my mid-50s. Didn't work out, but I didn't mind. She was READY. After we were old news, she picked up a young Marine and proceeded to destroy his Marine career and circle the drain with her own life. He smartened up and escaped; I didn't let it bother me one way or the other. Now, I, nearing 60, am much less inclined to date anyone under 19.

You can not help who you are attracted to, but it is very illegal to purse someone of that age group, and that you CAN control.

if you are attracted to a girl that age because you get off on the idea of being with somebody who's practically a child, then you need to find a therapist. if you like a girl under 18 who looks much older than she really is, then just find a cute twenty-something. i am 22 and have always been freaked out when much older guys hit on me.

For me personally, yes. My belief is that in such a situation, the old person is immature, has never grown up, and fancies himeself/herself as a peer of the child rather than old enough to be the parent of that child. So the body is old, but the brain/emotion is the result of stunted growth, arrested development and all that goes with it, including bad judgment, infantile behavior and childish actions.
