  • There is an arguement for both views. Personally I think He was aware of the possibility that they'd eat of it, before permission would've been given, and was ready with a redemption plan before it had a chance to happen. Do I think it was His intention that man eat of it prematurely - uncertain.
    • Linda Joy
I think it was part of the original plan. And the Plan of Salvation was established before anyone came to Earth as well.
    • ReiSan
Why undergo such drama? God must be perverse if he exists.
    • Linda Joy
Why undergo all this drama fighting against something you claim doesn't even exist?
    • ReiSan
Because you shove it in my face!
    • Linus van Pelt
Shame on you for taking control of that person's computer and forcing them to look at the answers to this question!
    • Army Veteran
I've never seen any religious discussion directed at ReiSan. Would "shoving it in his face" mean that when he sees it in here he is offended by it? Is the AB community not supposed to talk about religion because it offends certain people? Perhaps a better solution would be to not get involved in things that offend you.
  • Actually you're confused. The original story speaks of two tree's and they chose the one of knowledge. Thus it was their first act of self interest and hence why they were eventually forgiven. Just as your newborn will usually do something stupid when they first learn to crawl, like break your vase. Thus it was not "a plan" but "a choice". Similar to today where having "a choice" does not mean you will always make the right one. But you do what you "think" is right and bear the consequences.
    • Linda Joy
I'm not confused about the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
    • ReiSan
It is a silly tale. I could write better when I was age five.
    • Linda Joy
Prove it. What book did you write EVER that sold 5 billion copies?
    • ReiSan
Did any book ever actually sell 5,000,000,000 copies? In any case, appeal to popularity is illogical. I can write much better than many best-selling books. Many of them are garbage. You are saying Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" was great because it was a best-seller. It is actually crude garbage that was plagiarized much. You also say "Peyton Place" was great. It was pure garbage.
  • Yes He gave them freewill knowing they would be tempted
    • ReiSan
He should not have done it if he knew they would displease him. This tale is silly.
  • 6-16-2017 Mommy tells Baby not to touch the stove. Baby touches the stove. Is it Mommy's fault that Baby got burned? After all, she warned him and he decided to ignore the warning. That seems like a complete analysis, but then we have people such as yourself who make up things that sort of make sense to a human mind, especially a human who never actually read the story. What you need to do is stop letting strangers tell you what's what and read it for yourself. After all, part of the story includes a figure who is totally dedicated to deceiving everybody.
    • Linda Joy
I've read the story. Yes he commanded them not to eat but he knows everything and he knew they would. If it wasn't part of his plan why did he make the tree to begin with?
    • Linda Joy
And why do you even bother reading scriptures if you're not going to follow Christ by being loving and kind to people?
    • Linda Joy
You may want to revisit 1 Corinthians 13 and try applying it this time.
    • Jewels Vern
God does not know everything. If he did, there would be no need for commandments.
    • Jewels Vern
I do not understand the nature of your complaint. 1 Corinthians 12, 13, and 14 contain instructions for running a worship meeting.
    • Linda Joy
The Commandments are for us, not him. 1st Corinthians 13 is about the Pure Love Of Christ - charity loving one another. Something you lack. And it's obvious to me now that you don't even care. For you it's not even about how to be christ-like. That's not your goal. To each their own I guess.
    • Rick Myres
I agree with you Linda God is our creator and He knows everything.
    • Rick Myres
Jewels you are the one who said Jesus is not God and I posted the scripture when Jesus said "you have seen me you have seen the Father I and the Father are one" you called that a lie after saying God cannot lie you called His words a lie. After all in Genesis it says in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Jesus is the Word.
    • Jewels Vern
I still don't understand why you have your nose out of joint, or why you judge my loving kindness. FWIW I have much better manners than my father. My mother wouldn't even admit that she was happy to have me at home to take care of her. I have spent my life trying to learn how to act right, and in most cases I act better than anybody around me. Exactly what manners of yours would you like me to copy? The condemnation you have posted here is a lousy example.
    • Rick Myres
I did not judge you I told you exactly what is/was true.
    • Jewels Vern
Rick - The bible also says a man and his wife are one. Are you going to try to tell me that a man is his wife? John 1:18 says "No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." In Genesis God says "Let there be light," and there was light. Everything God does, He does by speaking it. God is His word. John 4:22 "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." Ephesians 3:5 "Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel." Jesus didn't know the divine mystery. If Jesus had been God, John 4:22 would have been a lie, and God can not lie.
    • Rick Myres
I gave you words from the Bible the words of God. I have seen and heard others use the Bible for their own use. So this is not new. Plus in the Bible it says we are not to argue so I am not going to argue with you. But I suggest you to read the Bible with prayer to have understanding of what you read.
    • Jewels Vern
Rick, I would give you the same advice. You have gotten what you know from strangers, not from the bible. And I have not seen any place in the bible that says not to argue. But in any case, I am not arguing. I am telling you what the bible says.
    • Jewels Vern
Linda, it occurs to me that you just want me to be nice. Well, I try to learn how to be nice, but in the end, my God is not a god of niceness. He is the God of rightness. There is nothing nice about being wrong.
    • ReiSan
Mommy needs to watch Baby, because she should know Baby will defy her orders. If God is so wise, how did he mess up so badly in creation? He comes across as rather clumsy. He is not omnipotent, omnipresent or omniscient in this goofy tale.
    • Linda Joy
Is this a new conversation? I haven't gotten notifications in a while. Jewels, Jesus was the example of loving kindness to most of humanity. He blessed and healed and loved. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Don't assume you're the only person whose ever read The Bible. Just because I ask for the opinions of others doesn't mean I'm going to believe everything I'm told. I know how to ask for guidance and discernment when I read and pray, but I'd rather not cast my pearls before swine. If you'd like to pm me my email address is still on my profile page. But I would like to say I shouldn't have judged your internet by my feelings.
    • Linda Joy
Rick, I agree with Jewels here. Jesus invited us to be one with him as he is one with the Father. We are not him. We are one in purpose in the body of Christ. Read the intercesserory prayer in John praying for clarity and to know the truth! Read about Jesus's baptism where it says The Father's voice came from heaven while Jesus was in the river and the Holy Ghost descended in the form of a dove. Three separate beings in different places! One in purpose.
    • ReiSan
Wow, what arguments Christians have over interpreting the Bible. I am glad that 99.54% of the people of Japan are not Christians, so I was never brainwashed with this patent nonsense.
  • I can't really say why the Lord God put the Tree of good and Evil in the garden. The great thing is the Lord God gave us Jesus Christ, His Son. That through Christ's death and resurrection I am free of the curse put on me from Adam and Eve's sin. I am as Adam and Eve were before they ate from the Tree. I now live the Law of Love. For those who refuse Jesus Christ as their Saviour they are free as well but they do not enjoy the freedom but still live under the Old Testament law of which no man can live successfully. Know Christ and Live!
    • Linda Joy
Praise God for Jesus Christ! In deepest humility I thank you my savior in Jesus name amen
    • ReiSan
It is illogical to blame all humans for the actions of only two. if one Englishman offends me, I do not blame all Englishmen. Why have Jesus killed anyhow? That is barbaric. This story line is goofy. It is obviously exceedingly bad fiction that logical and objective people do not accept as true.
    • Linda Joy
Reisan, I believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adams transgression.. And it's a lot like Jewels said. God gives commandments to protect us (don't throw that iron skillet in the air and then just stand ther) Then blame God for hitting you with a pan! But I'd rather spend my time on those who truly want to discuss this and learn from each other and that's not why you're here.
    • ReiSan
You do not want to learn the truth. You just want someone to agree with your delusions. You would never read books that skeptics write. They might make you doubt your ignorant beliefs and reject them. I am discussing this, but what you mean is that you only want people to agree with your delusions.
  • God's original plan was for Adam and Eve to populate the earth with perfect children. (Genesis 1:28) There was nothing extraordinary about the tree. It merely represented God's right to decide what was good or bad for humans. By not eating the fruit of that tree, Adam would have shown not just his obedience but also his appreciation for the One who created him and who had blessed him so richly.
    • ReiSan
If that was his plan, God was an exceedingly inept creator. He blames his creations for his ineptness, and centuries later has his son brutally slain to compensate for his ineptness. This story line is comical. Imagine a painter who makes two paintings that displease him. Instead of correcting his errors or starting over, he blames the paintings and any future paintings he might ever make for his errors. Then, years later, he has a son and kills him to compensate for his errors. Such a man would be insane. So is this tale about God and Jesus and creation.
  • This God character is one of the dumbest and most barbaric I have seen in any fiction. He was quite inept as a creator, if he could not do any better than that. If he did not want them to eat from it, he should have not placed it in the garden. I would never leave food lying about that I did not want children and pets to eat. God was extremely dumb to do that. If everything went according to his plan, he is insane. He created humans and finds feeble excuses to torture them forever, not to mention torturing and killing his son brutally. The men who invented such a goofy tale were not very smart. Logical and objective humans laugh at such goofy tales.
    • Linda Joy
One day you will bend your knee and confess Him Lord! Why do you waste your time fighting something you claim doesn't exist? Its a bit ridiculous don't you think?
    • ReiSan
One day, you will confess Amaterasu is your Empress, My Emperor is Akihito. Jesus Gonzales is a janitor at Japantown. It is normal to fight back when people provoke me. I am not fighting gods but people who believe in them and try to force them upon everyone. You are being illogical again.
  • dont sound like it was his plan
  • I don't care if people want to argue (Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him) about God's words you can do it without me. In the Bible it says do not argue for a reason. God's words are His and the men were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write His words.
    • Linda Joy
We can't do it without you as long as you answer. To do it without you you'd have to not answer.
    • Rick Myres
Actually I do not like to argue. Never did like to.
    • ReiSan
The Bible also says that if you call someone a fool you go to Hell.
  • i dont think so, it created too many problems
    • ReiSan
The story is goofy. Only brain-damaged people believe such comical absurdity could possibly be true and waste time and money at church.
  • Isaiah 46:8 Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. 9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jl2sVxBl9I
