My boss and I communicate about 50 percent of the time through Yahoo Messenger on our desktops even though we are just a few feet away separated by a wall. Is this normal? Do you engage in this type of communication?

I constantly talk to my co workers through email and IM, but it is mostly smack talk.

My room mate also IMs me to see what I am up to and we are less than 50 feet away.

If you have a good relationship with your boss, yes. My boss only sends me emails when its work requests so that I can flag them and stuff... or its humorous emails and pictures and stuff we don't want to shout about other co-workers in earshot...
